Roles and Responsibilities

• Assists with the analysis, design, programming, and implementation of applications that will interface with system software.
• Analyses requirements and recommends policies, procedures, and standards for software systems.
• Implement and verify backup and recovery procedures. This would include Business Recovery concerns and associated testing.
• Develop/maintain/monitor proper software use and security authorization policies.
• Install new z/OS releases (2.3,2.4,2.5) as they become available and configure them to support requirements.
• Upgrade z/os Versions from 2.3 to 2.5 and above.
• Provide level 1 operational support for z/VM and Linux systems.

Qualifications/Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience as a Z/OS System Programmer or similar role in a large-scale enterprise environment.
• In-depth knowledge of the IBM Z/OS operating system and associated software (such as JES2, JCL, SMP/E, TSO/E, ISPF, SDSF, etc.).
• Experience with system performance tuning and capacity planning.
• Familiarity with mainframe security concepts and best practices.
• IBM Z/OS certification(s) preferred.
